Feature
A live wedding photo slideshow from your guests' phones
Put your shared album on the big screen. As guests upload, their photos appear in the slideshow within seconds, and that's usually what gets everyone else to start uploading too.
How it works
- Guests scan the QR code on their table and upload photos from their phone. No app, no login.
- You open the slideshow from your dashboard on a laptop connected to the venue screen or projector, and click once for full screen.
- New photos go first. Each new upload is shown next, then the slideshow keeps looping through everything so far, six seconds per photo.
- Your link stays on screen. A line along the bottom reads “Add your photos at
sharephotos.wedding/your-names”, so anyone who missed the card can still join in. - Credit where it's due. If a guest added their name when uploading, it's shown with their photo.
Why it gets more photos
A QR code on a table is easy to ignore. A screen showing your friend's photo from five minutes ago is not. Once the first few photos appear, guests see that it works and that it's quick, and the slideshow becomes its own reminder for the rest of the night. If your MC mentions it once, expect a wave of uploads straight after.
Setting it up at the venue
- Test it the week before with a few photos of your own, on the same laptop you'll use on the day.
- Check the venue internet. The slideshow only needs a modest connection, but it needs one the whole evening. A phone hotspot is a fine backup.
- Turn off sleep and screen savers on the laptop, and plug it into power.
- Ask someone to own it. The venue coordinator, DJ or a friend can start it after dinner and switch it off at the end.
- Pick the moment. It works best during the reception and the party, not during speeches.
What it doesn't do (yet)
We'd rather you know now than at the venue: the slideshow shows photos, not videos, and there's no approval step, so every uploaded photo is shown. There are no transition styles or music either. It's a clean, full-screen slideshow that updates itself.
Compared with other apps
Some wedding photo apps keep the live slideshow for paid plans; Wedibox, for example, lists it from its $49 Wedding plan (checked 14 October 2026). Here it's included on the free plan. See the Wedibox comparison for the full picture, including what they offer that we don't.
The slideshow plays from your shared album. Start with the QR code for your wedding photos, or use the sign template for the tables.
Questions
Is the live slideshow free?
Yes, it's included on the free plan. The free plan allows up to 20 uploads, so for a full wedding the slideshow will run out of new photos quickly; it's a good way to test the setup before the day.
What do I need at the venue?
A screen or projector, and a laptop (or a smart TV or streaming stick with a web browser) connected to the internet. Open the slideshow link from your dashboard and click once for full screen.
How fast do new photos appear?
The slideshow checks for new photos every few seconds and shows each new arrival next, so a guest usually sees their photo on screen within about 15 seconds of uploading.
Does it show videos?
Not yet. Videos go into your album and your ZIP download, but the slideshow only shows photos.
Can I hide a photo before it's shown?
Not yet. Every photo a guest uploads goes into the slideshow. If that worries you, keep the slideshow for the reception rather than a formal moment, or ask the venue to run it on a screen you can switch off.
Do guests need the app or an account?
No. Guests scan the QR code on the table, choose photos and upload from their phone's browser.
